Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island called West Island. The West Island has a lot of different communities. People who have never heard of it often mistake it for a separate island facing west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. However, this isn't the truth. Brugel became an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. Her first ambition was to be a dancer. However, a growth increase caused her to surpass all of the dance partners she was able to have. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inches." Once I was bigger than my male counterpart, I stopped. Brugel was one of many former dancers who shifted into acting. Her teacher from high school encouraged her into the right direction. It was her teacher who advised her to audition to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. She auditioned and was cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. The show was granted a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program and graduated in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Since then, Brugel's been performing in over 60 plays, large and small. One of the most memorable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in Season 1 and was only seen at times.
